We've made three major changes for our monthly meetings in 2012 - location, date and time have ALL changed.

 

Date: 2nd Saturday of the month

Time: 1p - 4p (leadership will meet around noon, all members are invited)

We have had our meetings on the 3rd Saturday of the month for a couple of years now but we have moved it to the 2nd Saturday going forward. We had too many scheduling conflicts with the other events (Auction and Swap mostly), we needed the 3rd weekend opened up to give us more flexibility. 1st and 4th weekends are out because of too many conflicts with major holidays.

Time was moved up one hour to shift it away from dinner, more of an afternoon event.

Location was moved to a new site for many reasons. We had too many scheduling conflicts with the place in Independence, we didn't have WIFI/phone coverage in the building, it was too far off the highway and it wasn't a central location. The new location in NKC is about 1 mile north of downtown KC, right off the highway. NKC is misleading, it's about as far south as you can go, near the river.

We have a contract for 3 months (Jan-Feb-Mar) with Bridge View. The other dates for the rest of the year are available to us but we wanted to test it out and make sure it'll work. If we like it in January, we'll reserve the remainder of the year. The room combination (North and East) we'll have is slightly smaller that what we use now, but it's got a lot going for it. WIFI access, right off a main road, side entrance for the room and catering prep room, brand new facility (about 1 year old) and we won't have to move rooms at all through the year.

To get to Bridge View, from I-70 (northern loop through downtime), get off on 9 highway (Burlington Ave) and cross the Heart of America bridge. Bridge View Hall is about a block past the light at 10th street on the right (East) side. Pull into the lot and park around back, the entrance we'll use is back there.

We would like to invite you to attend our monthly meetings.  You can always check the Upcoming Events in the top menu bar for more info.  Every meeting is different and exciting.  We bring in speakers from both inside and outside our club to present a program promoting the fishkeeping hobby.  We also have a mini auction where fish, plants, equipment, and much more is donated by club members and auctioned off to benefit our organization.  This is a great opportunity to get some really great items for your fish tanks!
