I've noticed that lots of the guys on the nationally used forums have a graphic signature that appears at the end of their posts. I like them. It helps me realize where everyone's from, and gives a sense of it being a little more personal. It also helps when it comes time to visit a town, I know there are some people there who like fish and aquatic plants.

Since I'm not really on the national fish only forums, and since I brought up the discussion during the HAP presentation, I made this cater more to the plant forums. One could just as easily be made with more of a fish theme.
Fifteen minutes later, I'm not happy with the outcome... but here it is.

This was a quickie to get the idea going. I've noticed that the best way to find out what people want, is to show them what they don't want.
I shamelessly stole the most recent graphic from j66213b's planted tank. Hopefully he doesn't mind. Whatever we do, we need to be sure and keep it legit. I'd hate to have us all add this as our sig line only to find that the graphic is copyrighted or something.
Most of these sig lines seem to be 75-100 pix tall, and no more than 400 pix wide. These here are all 333 pix wide.

Regardless of the format or content, I'd be willing to add something like this on all my other aquarium related forums.

Here are several more examples to mull over. I've noticed that APC doesn't show signature graphics unless you're signed in, or I'd direct you to the page where I found these.



I'm still learning to use gimp on Linux instead of Photoshop in Windows. Else, I'd make more contrast between the background and the text, pick a new font (or create a hand written/designed text) and now that I think of it, it'd be nice to have the person't HAP rank in the bottom right side in bright yellow letters.
What else would you like to see in a sig line?

Anyone have any other textual ideas? "Green thumbs" makes it slightly more niche than I want it. However, it was what came to mind at the time. I like the idea of two lines one saying HAAS, and the other saying ... something profound. I can change what the lines say at a whim, so feel free to suggest away.

I'm also thinking I'll add a "pinhole camera" effect around the edges, so the picture fades to black in a semi-oval around the edges.
I'm thinking that green is a bad color, as it blends too well with the background. I'd also like to get rid of the anti-alias so the letters aren't blurry. However, gimp wasn't cooperative.

Are there club colors, per se, or do we just wing it?

Does anyone have a graphic they'd like used for the background? I didn't really ask permission for this one.

Anyway, I'm hoping to have this be something that the whole club be proud of, so more input would be definitely welcome.
