Hi all -
I saw some rules on the breeding program, but now I can't find them online. If someone can send me a link for the details about the BAP. I don't want to ask questions that have been already spelled out... but I'm not even sure if I even know what to ask. I'm new on this site, but have been raising freshwater fish for many years. I primarily am interested in sailfin mollies and fancy guppies. So looks like livebearer category is the one for me right now. I'd like to perhaps work on submitting them. Here's what I have going on right now. I have deliveries over the last couple weeks of 3 sailfin molly moms and 3 guppy gals. Mixed fathers with different color strains. I just need more info, how to do it, what equipment used to bring them in to the meetings, etc. Any advise is welcomed. (I saw on the submissions that one was a Trumpet Snail... really? I have bunches of them going on! I can do that.) |

BAP is fun and easy. YOu can do snail, invert., and lots of other fish including your livebearers. Hope you decide to submit some and get Mike busy with the BAP activities again.
The classes on laid out in the drop down menu BAP at the top of the screen on this site. Jack |

When I go to the BAP menu - there is one place with a slideshow, another with submissions, then the online form.
I went to a place that had an actual document that outlined the rules & specifications. I do not see that in this section, and not sure where I accessed it at. I was wanting to print it out and look it over more. Well, perhaps Mike will contact me about it - and will learn more! Sounds like fun! Thanks! |

If you click DIRECTLY on the "BAP" rather than hovering over it and selecting one of the sub-options, I think you'll find what you need.

I can send you a better copy if you want in MS Word. Just PM me your email address. You are welcome to call anytime, too.

Yes, that was it. Wasn't clear how to find? Perhaps a link in the submenu with the other info would work. I copied/pasted into Word and will go through it. I'm sure I'll have more questions about all of this.
Are there many folks involved in doing this process currently? How successful are they in reaching their goals? Does it take quite a long time to accomplish? (kinda curious) Any advise from those in this program? Lessons learned? |

Jump in with both tanks and just do it! I had a blast with my BAP pursuits. I spawned alot of fish and had a ball doing it. Everyone in the club should BAP the fish they spawn it is fun and easy and even gets a little competitive which adds to the fun. Fish and Fun and the BAP. I think several of us have been very successful in reaching our goals. I finished 7 classes with one or two more to go and I love the whole concept of the BAP. I sponsored a BAP Challenge last year and we got a few more people involved. This year a few of us are going to work on an endangered or threatened species BAP project with a CA fish the yellow labriden. More fish and more fun.

I enjoy it in that I feel like I am getting rewarded for something I love to do. You do tweak you goals/breeding projects a little to get awards, but that is a big benefit to the program. You try breeding something you might not normally try so you can complete a class. The program has really become a lot more popular over the past 2 years.
