I had some fish get sick. Probably velvet. I had them in a heavily planted tank with nice plants. My plants are now in a 5G with no fish. They have been in a fishless tank for probably 2 months now.
when do you think it's safe to use them with fish to where I don't have to worry about disease? I need advice. I have some tanks that can use plants, and these plants are just in that 5G by themselves. Thanks! |

This says they die if they don't find a host within 24 hours. If you treated the fish and treeated the plants and it has been 2 month with no fish with the plants, you might be okay!

well it's a lot easier with plants.
Fish can't exactly be dipped in 10% bleach solution for 30-40 seconds to kill off any bacteria/parasites/alga, etc... plants can. |

Cool! Is Hydrogen peroxide less harmful?

Did you read that the disease dies after 24 hours and no host fish? Should not need to do anything to the plants but maybe you are just wanting to be extra safe.

I'd go with Jack on this one, but if you ever do have a legitimate reason to dip plants (overbearing black brush algae, parasite that lives longer than 24 hours, etc etc) the H2o2 is indeed safer all around than bleach.

I read that the disease dies with no host, but what if I misdiagnosed? I couldn't cure the fish. I would just be sick if I put these plants in a tank and killed a batch of fish. I'm being extra safe on this one.
