I'm having trouble learning the plants... I can't identify an Amazon Sward by a picture and I have 20 now... So anything is a big help to me... Great looking shots Jack... Mike |

I see red temple at petco a lot. it's a fairly common plant. Not too hard to keep color. In lower light you won't see the red on top of the leaves, but the underside should remain red.

I see red temple at petco a lot things are finally changing, I've wanted this plant for awhile and while taking the dog to banfield, I always stroll through the fish dept. Usually it's just hornwort, etc... now I'm seeing all kinds of plants pop up in stores. I've seen Hygro Kompact show up in a couple places which is a new plant to me. It wasn't but a few years ago I was hurting for other local planted tank enthusiasts to chat with on fishheads.org(used to keep a reef) but it just seemed like there were only a couple of us and now I'm happy to see the numbers are growing. |

Wow, Jack, I'm impressed!
What substrate are you using? All low tech? Fertilizer? |

there's always more than you think. I think this forum has helped a lot in getting people like us together. I'd be interested to see how many people got to this forum by googling "planted tank kansas city" or something. obviously it isn't the main focus of the club, but the forum's search engine crawlers do a great job of diverting local web trafic our way.

I do use a little liquid fertilizer but I have to be careful if I use recommended amounts I get algae blooms. I have some medium level lighting. Not quite high light but I pushed it up higher than when I began the project. It is nice to have this part of the club and the forum "blossoming". Just had to plant that seed. Now I can't stop somebody crop me. Thanks for asking. Jack |

Those word plays are getting to your head I think! We'll have to "stem" the tide of that, and get to the "root" of the problem!
Someday Jack's gonna get Co2 set up and then we're all in trouble! |

That arowana sure would look nice snaking its way through nymphaea stems...

I have a friend in OK that has a planted 240 with some jungle val or something like that. I like the look but it would take a lot of sand or gravel to make that happen plus a lot of plants.
