how much they want? mission petsmart wants I think $12 or $15..a plant. I've always liked them, know nothing about keeping though.

I never kept them either, but back when I had a 3 or 4 nice planted tanks going I considered. Problem as I understand it is that no one has gotten them to live very long and no one has gotten them to reproduce in aquariums. Maybe that has changed. I also know algae (thread algae in particular) can really mess this plant up.

Well, you had to ask....
It was labeled simply "lace plant" and I think it was under $10, but don't hold me to it. You probably could call up there tomorrow and ask, since it was one that was actually labeled. |

I may have to go look at them tomorrow. Not sure if they live these days with the kind of lighting I have but they are one of those tempting plants you see now and then. I wanted to go to Pet World in Lawrence today but family stuff happened and so no go. They just got a plant shipment in and I was kind of wanting to see some red.
Maybe some time soon. Jack |

68-72° F
pH: 5.5 - 7.0 dKH: 2-15 do NOT exceed these parameters with this plant. If you don't want to build a tank around this plant and your tank does not currently subscribe to these parameters... I'd recommend a different plant. They're not easy to keep. If you provide the above params, they will thrive and even... yes... multiply, but they are finicky if the temp rises above 72 and you can just say goodbye if your Ph is above 7.0. The reason people had so hard a time for so long propegating this plant is because it only reproduces by seed. It has been done however, and if done here will be worth a good deal of HAP points oh.. and if you have a lot of light... shade them with another plant. Intense, direct light is another big nono. |

The secret for keeping a good madagascar lace is shrimp.

Well I bought a couple of them so we will see if my cool water tank and shrimp help me keep the plants alive.
Heading in to town to help a guy with his big reef tank and some plumbing changes. Since I am thinking about a mini reef it is good thing for me to do. Thanks for the tip on the lace plants. Jack |
